Dominican University presents lecture on trade and terrorism
Dominican University’s Center for Global Peace through Commerce will present a lecture titled “Peace in Pakistan: Can Trade End Terrorism?” with Asad Hayauddin, trade representative for the Pakistani Consulate of Chicago, and Syed Jafer Hasnain, secretary of the board for Pakistani Human Development Foundation. The lecture will be held on Monday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parmer Hall room 108, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
Hayauddin graduated from Lake Forest Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and Soviet/Russian studies from Amherst College. He earned a master’s degree in international relations and a master’s degree in philosophy at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He also holds a master’s degree in law and diplomacy and a doctorate from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Hasnain is a partner and co-founder of Lifeline Assets. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York as a financial analyst in the mortgage finance group. He was an international economist for Citicorp and spent two years as a strategist with Merrill Lynch. He joined AllianceBernstein in 1994 where he was a senior vice president, portfolio manager and research analyst. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Brown University and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Cambridge, England. He serves as a trustee of the Human Development Foundation North America, a non-profit organization active in building civil society in Pakistan.
