Dominican University Performing Arts Center Presents In the Heartland

Dominican University’s Performing Arts Center will present In the Heartland: A Journey Through the Works of Sam Shepard on Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Eloise Martin Recital Hall, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest.

In the Heartland features a variety of works by Sam Shepard, one of America’s most noted Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights. As an actor and writer for both stage and screen, Shepard has received Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe nominations as well as an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of test pilot Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff. Shepard’s work combines complex characters, troubling circumstances and deep emotion, often set in the non-defined, dusty heart of the American plains.

In the Heartland is part of Dominican University Performing Arts Center’s Black Box Experiment, a program which explores a theme or a playwright through a series of one-act plays or scenes. Designed to showcase the craft of the actor, the student-directed production is performed with fewer technical elements.

For more information or to order tickets, contact the Dominican University box office at (708) 488-5000 or purchase tickets online at www.dom.edu/pac. General admission tickets are $5.
