Dominican hosts African American and Latino Social Work symposium
Dominican University’s Graduate School of Social Work will present the African American and Latino Social Work Symposium on Wednesday, March 24, featuring a keynote address by Stedman Graham, chairman and CEO of S. Graham & Associates. The symposium, which is co-sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers and Urban Imaging, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Priory Campus Auditorium, 7200 W. Division Street, River Forest.
This third annual symposium will bring together representatives from social service agencies, academia and businesses to address the issues that are impacting the African American and Latino communities. In his morning address, Graham will discuss “The Nine Step Success Process to Building Your Identity.” His company, S. Graham & Associates, is a management and marketing consulting firm that specializes in the corporate and educational markets.
The symposium will also feature a panel discussion on “Building on the Strengths of African American & Latino Communities through Economic and Community Development.” Alex Perez, reporter for NBC5 News, will moderate the panel. The panelists will include: Adam Alonso, executive director of Corazon Community Services; Donald Dew, president/CEO of Habilitative Systems, Inc.; Rosalind Edochie, CEO/founder of Encore Transportation and Language Services; Magda Favale, executive director of CEDA Near West; Juan Salgado, president/CEO of Instituto del Progreso Latino (Instituto); Audrena Spence, executive director of Calumet Center of Metropolitan Family Services; and Melanie Taylor, civil litigation attorney at Hall Booth Smith and Slover, P.C.

The registration fee for the conference is $30, and up to five continuing education units are available for an additional fee.
