Dominican hosted a summer reading academy for the children living at Hephzibah House in Oak Park. This year's theme was on food and cooking. The students got the chance to cook dishes in Dominican's Christopher Nutrition Science Center and go on field trips to a farm and the Oak Park Farmers' Market.

Michelle Agins, a 1977 graduate of Rosary College, is the chief photographer of the annual New
York Times Neediest Cases Fund. Agins photographs individuals and families who are willing to share
their struggles with poverty, struggles that Agins herself has experienced.

Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s most highly acclaimed tragedies, November 13-15 in the Lund
Auditorium. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday performance
begins at 3:00 p.m.
Eighty Dominican University students traveled to Springfield, IL, to participate in a rally
outside the capital building to support the Illinois Monetary Assistance Program (MAP). Gov. Pat
Quinn signed a bill on October 15 to reinstate the MAP program, which helps hundreds of students at
Dominican pay for tuition.

Dominican served as the host site on Saturday, August 8, of a full scale disaster exercise involving emergency responders from 15 municipalities. The university was pleased to participate in this exercise because of its close working relationship with the River Forest police and fire departments and as a way to be better prepared in the event of a real emergency.
