Dominican's Nutrition Sciences department received a $229,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to support its efforts to increase diversity in the dietetics profession. Twenty such grants were awarded to institutions with at least 25 percent Hispanic undergraduate full-time enrollment.

Dominican students monitored the presidential election in El Salvador on March 15 as part of a study abroad course. Mauricio Funes was elected as the country's next president. This was the first time in 20 years that an opposition party has beat out the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA).

On Sunday, March 1, over 160 students and other members of the Dominican community, including President Donna M. Carroll, silently stood in solidarity against members of the Westboro Baptist Church, who were protesting the university's production of "The Laramie Project."


DU's Parking Lot is a Green Example for Midwest
