Library Reserve Policy
1. The reserve system at Dominican Library is intended for the use of students, faculty, and staff of Dominican University.
2. Materials placed on reserve will be at the initiative of instructors for the educational and non-commercial use of students.
3. All items being placed on reserve must be submitted to the circulation desk with a completed reserve form.
4. When placing items on reserve, please keep in mind that the Library cannot provide the following services due to limited resources, staffing, national interlibrary loan codes, or federal copyright laws:
- The Library cannot photocopy items (please provide copies).
- The Library cannot pull items from the shelves (please bring the materials to the Circulation desk with a reserve form).
- The Library cannot place items on reserve which have been obtained through interlibrary loan.
- The Library cannot place periodicals or reference books on reserve.
5. Material on physical reserve will be available at the Circulation Desk.
6. Material on electronic reserve will be accessible through the Dominican University Library web page, organized by school, class & instructor.
7. Access to electronic reserves will require a password supplied by the instructor.
8. Materials on electronic reserve will be removed from the system at the end of the courses for which the materials are intended.
9. Users may make a single copy of a reserve item for private study, research, scholarship, or education.
10. Each electronic reserve item will display a copyright notice which reads as follows:
11. The library reserves the right to refuse to place materials on reserve if it judges that the nature, scope, or extent of the material goes beyond reasonable boundaries of fair use.
12. Material on electronic reserve should not exceed 40% of the reading for the course.
