Community Initiatives in Action

The Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation, Seven Generations Ahead and The Delta Institute in collaboration with a host of community partners are offering an exciting opportunity to plan a more sustainable future for the Oak Park/River Forest communities.

PlanItGreen: The Environmental Sustainability Plan for Oak Park and River Forest, part of the OPRF Community Foundation's Community works initiative, is designed to engage community residents and stakeholder organizations in developing and implementing a vision for a sustainable Oak Park and River Forest. Community participation is a fundamental part of the vision planning process. Please view the VOP TV-6 video to learn more about the project.

Here are a few immediate ways that your group can get involved with PlanItGreen:

Register your organization at the PlanItGreen section of the SGA website (www.sevengenerationsahead.org), and encourage your friends/colleagues to do the same with their organizations. We will eventually post all registered PlanItGreen organizations.
Take the PlanItGreen Survey and communicate to us the number of people in your organization (staff, board, etc.) that you will commit to taking the PlanItGreen Survey. For example, Community Bank OPRF is committing to enrolling all 50 employees to take the survey. SGA has committed 16 board members and staff. Marion Street Cheese Market will commit 30 employees. We will continue to secure commitments from as many organizations in OP and RF so we can reach the goal of 2,500 survey respondents. Access survey at www.sevengenerationsahead.org.
Help secure additional commitments. If you belong to a congregation, a business, a school, a non-profit, a block, a Village government, a library, a book club, a soccer team, a hospital, a university, etc., help enroll members in taking the survey. We ask that you forward all commitments to shari@sevengenerationsahead.org so we can track our path to 2,500 survey respondents.
