Teaching Interfaith Cooperation? Engaging Religious Diversity and Identity in the Classroom.
As religious diversity and interreligious relations become increasingly salient topics in American public discourse broadly and at Dominican University in particular, this discussion series will explore questions and approaches for engaging these topics in the classroom. Can what we do in the classroom equip students with knowledge and attitudes that contribute to a culture of interfaith cooperation, or is such a normative goal outside the bounds of how we should understand teaching? Further, what is the potential to engage these questions within diverse disciplines?

Monday, March 26
12:30 - 1:30

In our increasingly complex world, which quotient should be of greater
relevance: the emotional quotient, creative quotient or intelligence
quotient. Which quotient do we value most in society? Which quotient do we
want our students to exhibit the most? Which quotient is reflected the most
in our syllabus? Which quotient on average is increasing and which one is
decreasing in our students based on national research? Which quotient is
valued the most in the various sectors of our national landscape? Come to
discuss these questions as well as to measure your own EQ, CQ and IQ.
