Dominican University’s Borra Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is delighted to announce a free, hands-on, one-day workshop for faculty at Chicago-area colleges and universities.  Working alone and in discipline-based teams, participating faculty will develop a scholarship of teaching and learning project that will be ready to implement in the fall.  Through the team-based approach, workshop participants will have multiple opportunities to gather feedback on their research question and plan, and will meet (and possibly collaborate with!) faculty pursuing similar projects at other area schools.

Who should attend?

  • Faculty who are new to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Faculty who have  experience in SoTL, but who would like to receive feedback on works in progress and/or who are interested in exploring collaborations with others in similar disciplines
  • Faculty from colleges and universities throughout the Chicago area

Given our space limitations, we will hold registration to 75 participants.

How much does it cost?

Nothing!  The Borra Center is sponsoring the event in the hopes of building a Chicago-area network of faculty engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

What will I get out of attending?

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

• identified and clarified a scholarship of teaching and learning research question
• drafted a plan to implement your SoTL project in the next academic year
• identified venues for publishing/ presenting your research
• established a potential network of collaborators, readers, and/or “writing group” members

Finding Dominican and Parmer Hall

Dominican University's main campus  is located at 7900 West Division Street in River Forest.  The main phone number is (708) 366-2490.  All of the ACCA Scholarship of Pedagogy Symposium events will be held in Parmer Hall, on the west end of the campus (#9 on the campus map, which you can download here).

Parking.  Feel free to park in the garage or in the lot near Parmer.  Security has been notified of this event and, so, will not ticket cars without Dominican registration.
