Bio

Devvora Papatheodorou has over 20 years of experience teaching piano to beginning and professional track students. In addition to teaching music courses at Dominican University, Papatheodorou is a piano instructor at the Chicago High School for the Arts and Sherwood Community Music School, and a theory instructor at the Music Institute of Chicago. She is an expert on teaching piano ensemble music with YAMAHA's Clavinovas. She has trained many faculty on pedagogy, piano ensemble repertoire and class management. From 2004 to 2008, she directed the private lesson program and keyboard maintenance at the Merit School of Music, in Chicago's West Loop. Papatheodorou has also served as a consultant for the Loyola University music department and Chicago High School for the Arts on using a piano lab, ensemble pedagogy and keyboard maintenance. She has been performing chamber music with various ensembles and solo since 1990. She specializes in one-piano four-hands and two-piano repertoire, piano ensemble instruction and chamber music coaching. She has performed at venues such as St. James Cathedral, Chicago Cultural Center, Stradivarius Society, Unity Temple in Oak Park, IL, Unitarian Church in Evanston, IL, Standard Club, the Greek Consulate in Washington DC and various other venues in Germany and Greece.

Bio

I adapted Shakespeare's Macbeth in 2009 and Othello in 2006.

I have been nominated three times for the Diversity Award for the Theatre Arts Lab Series season programming and multicultural themes and non-traditional casting. 
I am a company member with Erasing the Distance, an organization that sheds light on mental illness through theatre.
In addition to my position with Dominican University, I also contract independently as a director, vocal director, dialect coach, movement coach, acting coach and as an actor. I also teach interpersonal communications skills to teachers, customer service reps and business professionals.
