Alumna photographs "neediest cases" for New York Times
New York Times, November 6, 2009Michelle Agins, a 1977 graduate of Rosary College, is the chief photographer of the annual New
York Times Neediest Cases Fund. Agins photographs individuals and families who are willing to share
their struggles with poverty, struggles that Agins herself has experienced.

Iraqi student finds a home at Dominican

Ali Falah, a young Iraqi refugee, is now attending Dominican University through the Iraqi
Student Project. Falah's family had to flee to Jordan because of the war in Iraq, and he was not
able to complete his education.
Students go to Springfield to support MAP grants

outside the capital building to support the Illinois Monetary Assistance Program (MAP). Gov. Pat
Quinn signed a bill on October 15 to reinstate the MAP program, which helps hundreds of students at
Dominican pay for tuition.

Cistern saves Dominican gallons of water

Dominican hosts full scale disaster drill

Dominican served as the host site on Saturday, August 8, of a full scale disaster exercise involving emergency responders from 15 municipalities. The university was pleased to participate in this exercise because of its close working relationship with the River Forest police and fire departments and as a way to be better prepared in the event of a real emergency.

Bill Jenkins's play performed in Virginia
Veer Magazine, June 6, 2009Bill Jenkins, technical director and faculty member in the theatre arts department at Dominican, wrote a play, Hearts Full of Tears, which draws on his experiences after his son was murdered in 1997. The play is being performed in Norfolk, Virginia through June 20.
