associate professor of economics and quantitative methods, completed his term as president of the Illinois Economics Association (IEA) in October 2004. He presented two papers at the IEA’s annual meeting, including “Catholic Religious Vocations and Rational Choice: Some Evidence.” He also presented a paper titled “The Mean May Not Mean What You Think It Means: The Use and Misuse of Measures of Central Tendency” at the 2005 annual meeting of the National Business and Economics Society.

Dan Condon, associate professor of economics and quantitative methods, and several other Dominican University business faculty were actively involved in this year’s Illinois Economic Association’s annual conference. Condon, as president-elect of the association, served as program chair of the conference and organized a session on the economics of religion. Carol Tallarico, adjunct instructor of economics, organized and chaired a session on environmental economics.

published "Capitalizing On Human Capital: Developing a Faculty Driven Model of Assessment" in The Journal of The Academy of Business Education and presented a paper titled "A Faculty Driven Model of Assessment: Comparing Adjunct and Full-Time Faculty" at the annual meeting of the National Business and Economic Society in March. Condon also published "Monopsony Power and the Market For Clergy: Some Evidence From the Census" in the December issue of the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance and gave a talk to the Chicago Catholic University Club titled "The Decline in Catholic Vocations: A New Perspective" in February.
