Dominican University Partners with Alexian Brothers on MBA
Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business has launched a partnership with Alexian
Brothers Medical Center to offer a streamlined master of business administration (MBA) degree at
the medical center’s Roncoli Center, 600 Alexian Way, Elk Grove Village. This new “campus within a
campus” concept represents the first hospital/university partnership in the northwest suburbs and
has been specifically designed to make a Dominican University MBA more accessible to those who live
and/or work in the area.
“This partnership began with a discussion about transformation. We wanted to offer
staff from Alexian Brothers an outstanding educational experience in a supportive
environment. Partnering with Dominican University brings an excellent MBA program to our staff
and to residents in the communities we serve,” said Brother Ted Loucks, C.F.A., provost of Alexian
Brothers’ Workforce Development Learning Institute.
“The fit between our missions and cultures was apparent from the moment that we began the
discussions about bringing the MBA program to the Alexian Brothers’ campus,” said Dr. Arvid
Johnson, dean of the Brennan School of Business. “Our focus on educating the next generation of
ethical business leaders and our approach to providing a high-impact business education resonated
with Alexian Brothers’ commitment to and investment in not only its employees but also the
surrounding community. This is clearly a win-win partnership for Dominican, Alexian Brothers
and residents of the northwest suburbs.”
Classes at Alexian Brothers will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to
9:30 p.m. beginning August 26. Each course will meet once per week in 10-week sessions. A total of
eight courses will be offered during the 2008-2009 academic year at Alexian Brothers.
Registration for the fall term begins July 21. For more information about this unique
partnership, please contact the Brennan School of Business at (708) 524-6810 or visit the website
at www.dom.edu/academics/bsb/alexian.
Founded in 1977, the Brennan School of Business has developed a reputation for its focus on
global business and international study, its dedication to developing students’ knowledge of
entrepreneurial business practices and its commitment to business ethics. The school was named in
2006 in honor of Edward A. Brennan, the late chairman and chief executive officer of Sears, Roebuck
and Co., and his wife Lois L. Brennan, an alumna of the university.
Dominican University is a private, coeducational Catholic university offering bachelor’s
degrees in more than 50 areas of study and master’s degrees from schools of business, education,
library and information science, and social work. The university consistently ranks in the top tier
of Midwest master’s degree institutions by
US News & World Report and has been named by the magazine as a “great school at a
great price” for 10 years.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
