Dominican University Presents Annual Student Fashion Show

Dominican University’s apparel design and merchandising department will present its annual student fashion show, titled “The Future of Fashion,” on Saturday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. in Lund Auditorium, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.

The show will feature eco-friendly designs using recycled and sustainable materials as well as hand-painted and embellished fabrics. Collections include techno-influenced, futuristic fashions decked out with LED lights and fiber-optics, theatrical costume, special-event clothing, and retro-inspired classics.

About 40 students majoring in fashion design will exhibit 120 original designs in this production, which is organized and staged by students majoring in fashion merchandising. Graduating senior designers will show multiple garments as the culminating work of their college studies.

Tickets for the show are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, please contact Tracy Jennings, associate professor and department chair, at (708) 524-6633.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Dominican offers 50 undergraduate academic programs in the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and 15 graduate programs through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, the Graduate School of Social Work, and the School of Leadership and Continuing Studies. In the 2008 issue of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report again ranked Dominican University in the top tier of Midwest master’s level universities and as a “best value” for the tenth consecutive year.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
