Performing Arts Center Presents “Working”
Dominican University Performing Arts Center will present
Working, a musical based on the best-selling book of interviews by Chicago’s Pulitzer
Prize-winner Studs Terkel, from Friday, February 22 through Sunday, February 24 in Eloise Martin
Recital Hall, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
Working captures the diversity and dignity of America’s breadwinners in their own feisty,
heartbreaking and joyful words. Adapted by Stephen Schwartz (who composed
Wicked and wrote the lyrics for the Disney hit movie
Enchanted) and Nina Faso,
Working was nominated for multiple Tony, Emmy and Drama Desk awards. Its eclectic
collection of songs, influenced by pop, rock, folk, country and blues music, are by Schwartz, James
Taylor, Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead.
By exploring the American workday from the hearts and minds of truckers, teachers, masons,
migrant workers and more,
Working gives voice to the ordinary men and women who are missing from most musicals. It
is their moment to illuminate not only their daily tasks, but their hopes, dreams, grievances and
aspirations as well.
Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday performance is at 3:00
p.m. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Dominican University box office at (708)
488-5000 or purchase tickets online at www.dom.edu/pac. General admission tickets are
$15.
