DU Book Club to Discuss "Another World"
Dominican University’s Book Club will discuss Pat Barker’s
Another World on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. The discussion will be held in Lewis
Lounge, located on the first floor of Lewis Hall, 7900 West Division Street, River
Forest.
Another World is the haunting story of Nick and his dying grandfather Geordie. Geordie, a
WWI veteran plagued by nightmares of the war and tortured by the pain of an old bayonet wound as
well as the guilt of losing his brother in the same war that he escaped. Meanwhile, Nick and his
new wife have moved into the former mansion of a munitions baron where they struggle to keep peace
with their new blended family in a house with a very dark past.
Another World is a bleak exploration on the long-term, corrosive consequences of
war.
