Men's Soccer Posts Ninth Straight Victory
Dominican University men’s soccer program pushed its current winning streak to nine games with
a 2-0 win at Edgewood College in Wisconsin on Saturday. Sophomore Alex Rowley scored his second
game-winning goal of the week, notching his fourth goal of the season in the 61
st minute.
Junior Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) added an insurance goal for the Stars in the
71
st minute. The goal was Kochanowski’s team-leading 11
th goal of the season; the 5’10” forward has logged at least one point in each of the
Stars’ last nine games.
Junior goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa (Chicago, IL) picked up the win in goal for the Stars, recording
two saves to pick up his fifth shutout of the season. As a team, the Stars, five games into
Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play, have not been scored upon in NAC play yet this season and
have posted a string of six consecutive shutouts overall.
Earlier in the week, Dominican posted a 3-0 win over Benedictine University in conference
action. Rowley again tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal before the Stars’ Nick
Kowalski (Niles, IL) and Edwin Rodriguez (Chicago, IL) scored insurance goals for Dominican in the
final 10 minutes of play.
Dominican now stands at 9-2 on the season and are a perfect 5-0-0 in NAC play. On Wednesday,
they will host NAC rival Aurora University for a 4:00 p.m. game at Dominican’s West Campus Field.
The Stars will then host Concordia University (WI) on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game.
