DU Performing Arts Center Presents "Noises Off"
Dominican University Performing Arts Center will present the hilarious theatre farce
Noises Off the weekend of Friday, November 16 through Sunday, November 18 in Lund
Auditorium, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest.
Noises Off is an irresistible, fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose
susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss and passionate affairs turn every performance
into a high-risk adventure. British playwright Micheal Frayn was inspired to write a play “from
behind” as he stood in the wings one day watching a farce he had written, realizing that the tumult
and tangle behind the scenes was funnier than the show itself.
This comedy-within-a-comedy captures a touring theatre troupe’s production of
Nothing On in three stages: dress rehearsal, the opening performance, and a performance
toward the end of the run. Each performance is portrayed from behind the scenes, progressing from
flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in
the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy,
Noises Off is a backstage farce of finely choreographed slamming doors, falling trousers
and flying sardines.
Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday performance begins at
3:00 p.m. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Dominican University box office at
(708) 488-5000 or purchase tickets online at www.dom.edu/pac. General admission tickets are
$15.
