BSB honors Paul Beckwith
Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business will present the 2007 James W. Haugh Award
for Entrepreneurship and Ethics in Business to Paul Beckwith, president of the Sachem Company, at a
breakfast reception on Thursday, October 4 at 7:30 a.m. The reception will be held in the atrium of
Parmer Hall, the university’s new academic building, 7900 W. Division Street, River
Forest.
Paul Beckwith founded The Sachem Company, an international trade firm in Oak Park, IL in 1996.
The family-owned company, which now employs over two dozen employees working with over 100
companies, sources and works with suppliers to develop products in food and general merchandise
categories for grocers and retail outlets.
In addition to The Sachem Company, Beckwith founded Peace of Mind, an information technology business, and DP3, a packaging design company. He has recently started an import business called Sachem Imports.

A very engaged member of the Oak Park community, Beckwith is an active member of First United
Church and a supporter of the Wholistic Health Center of Oak Park, PADS and the Infant Welfare
Society of Oak Park and River Forest.
The James W. Haugh Award for Entrepreneurship and Ethics in Business is named in honor of
James Haugh, former chairman of the university’s board of trustees and the managing director of
American Capital LLC, a financial consulting firm. Haugh’s distinguished career includes management
positions with KPMG, the law practice of Kirkland and Ellis, and First Interstate Bancsystem
Inc.
Haugh’s civic engagements have included service with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the
Mid-American Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Great Books Foundation, Art Resources in
Teaching, and the Catholic Theological Union.
