DU Men's Soccer Starts Rolling
Dominican University’s men’s soccer team is currently riding a five-game winning streak,
including three victories last week in which the Stars outscored their opponents 15-1.
On Wednesday, the Stars knocked off Central Region rival and 2006 national championship
runner-up Wheaton College 2-1 at Wheaton. The Stars’
Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) recorded both goals for Dominican,
including a penalty kick in the 29
th minute to give the Stars a 1-0 advantage. Wheaton tied the game in the 38
th minute; the score remained tied into the second half.
Kochanowski notched the game-winner in the 56
th minute as he collected a rebound of his own shot and beat the Wheaton goalkeeper. The
score was Kochanowski’s 11
th game-winning goal of his career.
The Stars returned home on Friday to open Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play, defeating
Maranatha Baptist Bible College 5-0. The Stars dominated possession, logging a 34-3 advantage in
shots and 18-1 advantage in corner kicks. Kochanowski logged his first hat trick of the 2007 season
with three goals and an assist in the victory.
Nick Wisniewski (Carol Stream, IL) and
Alex Rowley (Lake Zurich, IL) each netted their first goals of the season to round
out the Dominican scoring.
The Stars then posted their second NAC victory in as many days as they beat Marian College 8-0
on Saturday. The Stars again dominated the pace of play, out-shooting the Sabres 25-2, allowing
just one shot on goal. Eight players scored for the Stars, including Kochanowski, Rowley,

The Stars return to action on Wednesday as they travel to North Park University for a 7:00
p.m. game at Holgrem Stadium. The Stars then travel to Lakeland College on Saturday.
