Dominican athletes receive All-Conference Honors
River Forest, IL — The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) announced the 2007 softball all-conference team with Dominican University’s Lea Marzolo (Fairview, MI) and Nikki Lang (Northbrook, IL) receiving All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.
Marzolo, a 5’ 3” outfielder, posted a .429 batting average with a .463 on-base percentage, both of which led the team and ranked in the top ten in the NAC. She banged out 39 hits, including one double and one triple, with 18 runs scored and eight runs batted in and was a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen bases. In addition to her all-conference honors, the NAC also named Marzolo, a freshman, to the 2007 NAC All-Rookie Team.
Lang, a senior pitcher/shortstop, appeared in 20 games on the mound and posted a team-best 4.87 earned run average with a team-high seven wins. In just over 83 innings of work, Lang recorded 73 strikeouts while opposing hitters managed a .317 batting average against the 5’6” right-hander. Offensively, Lang posted a .344 batting average with a .516 slugging percentage and .413 on-base percentage. She drove in 18 runs and scored 20, both ranking second on the team, and was a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases.
As a team, Dominican posted a 10-22 overall record and a 6-16 record in the NAC play, tying for eighth place. The Stars ended their season with a 10-8 record in their final 18 games.
