Book Club to Discuss Evening
Dominican University’s Book Club will discuss Susan Minot’s Evening on Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. The discussion will take place in Lewis Lounge on the main campus, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest.
Evening is the story of Ann Grant Lord, a woman drifting in and out of consciousness as she dies of cancer. Although she has had three husbands and five children, the memory she constantly returns to is one glorious summer weekend 40 years ago during the wedding festivities of a friend. The memory revolves around the loss of the one man who ever truly mattered to her. The novel explores themes of youth, age, passion and compromise as it weaves the bittersweet tale of Ann’s life.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
