DU Presents Rhonda Vincent & The Rage

Dominican University Performing Arts Center will present Rhonda Vincent & The Rage on Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest.

Rhonda Vincent, one of the most critically acclaimed figures on today’s bluegrass scene, first appeared on stage with her family’s band when she was barely five years old. By the age of eight, she had released her first single. Now, 40 awards later, Vincent has become an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and bandleader.

Vincent, who plays the mandolin, fiddle and guitar, has won an unprecedented seven consecutive wins as International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year. She was also named the 2001 IBMA Entertainer of the Year and took the 2004 IBMA Song of the Year award. Vincent has performed with country music legends Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson, George Jones, Martina McBride and Faith Hill.

Vincent’s supporting group, the Rage, includes guitarist/mandolinist Josh Williams, fiddler Hunter Berry, bassist Mickey Harris, and banjo player Kenny Ingram. Vincent and her dynamic group released the Grammy-nominated album Ragin’ Live in 2005.

Ticket prices are $32 and $22. For more information or to order tickets, call the Dominican University Box Office at (708) 488-5000 or visit the website at www.dom.edu/pac.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the undergraduate Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, the Graduate School of Social Work, and the Institute for Adult Learning. In the 2007 issue of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report again ranked Dominican University in the top tier of Midwest master’s level universities and as a “best value” for the ninth consecutive year.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
