DU Presents Annual Student Fashion Show
Dominican University’s fashion design department will present a student fashion show titled “ Framed” on Saturday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Lund Auditorium, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest. The fashion show, with an art gallery theme, will present over 120 student-designed garments as works of art.
Much of the clothing will revolve around categories such as the art of manipulating fabric (pleating, tucking, smocking and detailing), engineering stripes, digital inspiration (designs created via computer), and restyling the classics from the 1930s and 1940s. A special category is reserved for graduating seniors who will be showing the culminating works of their college studies. Don’t miss this opportunity to preview the fashion designers of the future.
Tickets for the show are $12 for adults and $9 for students. For more information or to reserve tickets, please contact Tracy Jennings, associate professor of fashion, at (708) 524-6633.
Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Dominican offers 50 undergraduate academic programs through the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and 15 graduate programs through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education and the Graduate School of Social Work. In the 2007 issue of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report again ranked Dominican University in the top tier of Midwest master’s level universities and as a “best value” for the ninth consecutive year.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
