Siena Center Presents Celtic Spirituality Program
Dominican University’s Siena Center will present a program titled “Stones Still Standing: The Lasting Beauty of Celtic Spirituality” on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Priory Campus, 7200 W. Division Street, River Forest.
The program will cover the origins and contemporary relevance of Celtic spirituality and how its respect for the feminine and non-dualistic perspective resonates with Native American, Hawaiian and African spiritualities and the traditions of the East.
Ed Sellner, professor of pastoral theology and spirituality at the College of St. Catherine and the author of ten books on spirituality and Celtic tradition, will lead this program, and Denise La Giglia, pastoral musician and flutist, will provide a brief prelude of Irish music.
A reception and book signing will follow the program. Tickets for this program are $10. For more information, contact the Siena Center at (708) 714-9105 or siena@dom.edu.
Dominican University established the Siena Center to engage the critical issues of church and society in the light of faith and scholarship. The center was named for St. Catherine of Siena, a 14th-century laywoman who worked for the reform of the church and justice in the world. Her passionate devotion to the central issues of church and society inspires the work of the center in its schedule of lectures, symposia, workshops, retreats, research and seminars.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
