Salinas receives all-conference honorable mention
Dominican University freshman Jessica Salinas (Bolingbrook, IL) received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors from the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) when the conference released the 2006-2007 All-Conference teams on Tuesday. Salinas, a 5’9” freshman forward from Neuqua Valley High School, led the Stars during her freshman campaign in points, field goal percentage, free throws made, rebounds and blocked shots, averaging 16.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.12 blocks per game.
In NAC play, Salinas ranked in the top ten in the conference in scoring and field goal percentage and top five in the conference in blocked shots and rebounding, leading the conference with 81 offensive rebounds. Salinas scored in double figures in all but three of Dominican’s 25 games this season, scoring 20-plus points eight times, and logged a team-high eight double-doubles. In her debut game, Salinas poured in a season-high 27 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds coming off the Stars’ bench.
On the season, Salinas poured in 412 points and grabbed 209 rebounds. She shot over 50% from the field, going 169-of-337 from the field. She logged 41 steals with 28 blocks and 27 assists on the season while averaging 31.8 minutes per game.
