Haiduc scores 1,000 career point

Dominican University’s 6’7” junior forward, Mike Haiduc (Chicago, IL) became the 14th person to reach the 1,000 career point mark in the Stars’ 73-62 loss to Edgewood College in the semifinals of the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday night.

Haiduc has appeared in 77 games over three seasons for the Stars and has amassed 1,006 career points, 459 rebounds, 102 assists, 129 blocks and 61 steals. In his junior campaign, the Chicago native posted career highs in points per game (15.7), rebounds per game (6.8), blocks (51), assists (39), steals (32), field goal percentage (.576) and minutes per game (29.9). For his career, Haiduc has logged eight career double-double efforts and has scored 20 points or more in 13 games. Haiduc has scored in double figures in all but nine of the 51 games he has played during his sophomore and junior seasons, including a career-high 32 points at Rockford College on January 16, 2007.

Dominican has increased its win total each of Haiduc’s three seasons, starting with seven wins on the 2004-2005 season and culminating with 17 wins for the 2006-2007 season. Haiduc has a chance to become just one of five players at Dominican University totaling more than 1,400 career points. In order to do that, he will have to score 394 points for the 2007-2008 season, one more than his 393 this year.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
