Book club to discuss The Orchard Keeper
Dominican University’s Book Club will meet on Thursday, January 18 to discuss Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Orchard Keeper. The group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the lounge of Lewis Hall, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
McCarthy’s first novel, The Orchard Keeper takes place in a remote Tennessee community between the two world wars. A Faulknerian character analysis of a young man and the outlaw/bootlegger who killed his father, the book contains all of the literary devices that later made McCarthy so renowned.
For more information on the book club, call Mary Pat Fallon at (708) 524-6602.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
