DU lands four players on NSCAA All-Region Team

After a 20-2-2 season, ending with a run to the NCAA Division III Championship Elite Eight, the Dominican University men’s soccer team landed four players on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Central Region First Team.

Junior Elvin Perez (Chicago, IL), sophomores Matt Kochanowski (Arlington Heights, IL) and Plamen Pamukov (Addison, IL), and freshman Arnes Rodriguez (Rosemont, IL) all earned their place on the All-Region First Team as they helped lift the Stars to the NCAA Division III NCAA Championship Elite Eight for just the second time in four years.

Perez, a 5’11” defender, anchored the nation’s 15th ranked defense, posting a 0.49 goals-against-average. As a team, Dominican allowed just 12 goals in 2,200 minutes over 24 games, posting 14 shutouts for the nation’s 22nd best shutout percentage at 0.58. The Stars’ defense allowed two goals or more just once during the regular season and twice all year and never allowed more than two goals in a single game.

Kochanowski, Rodriguez and Pamukov powered the Stars’ offense, ranked seventh in the nation in scoring at 3.63 goals per game. Kochanowski, a 2005 NSCAA All-North Central Region Second Team selection, scored a team-high 21 goals and was named the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Player of the Year. The 5’10” forward ranked 16th in the nation in points-per-game with 54 points in 24 games and 22nd in the nation in goals-per-game at 0.88.

Rodriguez, 5’7” midfielder, tallied 15 goals and 17 assists in 22 games for a total of 47 points, ranking him fifth in the nation in assists-per-game at 0.77 and 22nd in the nation in points-per-game at 2.14.

Pamukov, making his second appearance on the NSCAA All-North Central Region First Team, recorded 15 goals and 11 assists for a total of 41 points in 24 games as an attacking midfielder.
