The NCAA Championship selection committee has selected Dominican University as a host site for the 2006 Division III Men’s Soccer National Tournament for the second consecutive year.

Dominican University will host Aurora University, St. Norbert College and University of Chicago for the first and second rounds of the National Tournament on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. The action kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with Dominican University and Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) foe Aurora University meeting in game one. Game two features St. Norbert College, winners of the Midwest Conference Tournament, and University of Chicago of the University Athletic Association.

The winners of Saturday’s game will meet on Sunday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Dominican University’s West Campus Field in the second round of the 2006 Division III Men’s Soccer National Tournament.

The Stars (18-1-1) have played all three teams in the Dominican regional this year. On September 20, the University of Chicago Maroons handed the Stars their only loss on the season, defeating Dominican 1-0 at Dominican. On October 1, the Stars defeated St. Norbert College 2-0 at home, scoring two goals in the first half. The Stars knocked off Aurora University 4-1 en route to a perfect 9-0-0 record in the NAC, winning the regular season championship.

This is the Stars’ fifth consecutive at-large bid to the Division III National Tournament since becoming eligible for post-season play in 2002. Dominican is currently 2-4-1 in the NCAA Tournament, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2003.

General admission to all games is $6. Admission for students with a valid college ID and senior citizens is $3; $2 for children ages 3-12 years and free for children under 2.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
