Erick Baumann Racks Up 200th Win

Dominican University’s Men’s Soccer Head Coach Erick Baumann nabbed his 200th career win with the Stars’ defeat of the St. Norbert College Green Knights during NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament action on Sunday, November 12. The milestone caps a 200-52-13 career record in just 12 seasons as Dominican’s head coach.

Baumann, a 1993 graduate of Dominican University, was hired by the university in 1995 as head coach of the men’s soccer team. Earlier this year he was promoted to the additional position of director of athletics and recreation. During his tenure with the university, he has won 10 conference championships and received a total of eight Coach-of-the-Year Awards from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference, the Lake Michigan Conference and the Northern Athletics Conference.

Under his leadership, the Stars have won two regional championships and competed in six national tournaments, including their current stretch of five straight appearances in the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championships.

A graduate of Schaumburg High School, Baumann coaches the Under 17 and Under 18 boys’ soccer teams in the highly regarded Arsenal Club, headquartered in Elk Grove Village and operating throughout Chicago’s northwest suburbs.

The Stars’ victory over St. Norbert on Sunday represented the team’s 20th win of the season (20-1-1). The team now advances to the NCAA’s Sweet 16 and will travel to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH to take on Montclair State University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 18.
