Niemczewska, Rodriguez recognized by NAC

Dominican University’s Anka Niemczewska (Vernon Hills, IL) and Arnes Rodriguez (Rosemont, IL) were named Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Student-Athletes of the Week for volleyball and men’s soccer, respectively, for games played between Monday, October 2 and Sunday, October 8.

Niemczewska, a 5’7” freshman, recorded the first triple-double at Dominican University in over three years, tallying 17 kills, 17 assists and 16 digs in a 3-1 loss to Alverno last Wednesday. The rookie then just missed her second triple-double by one dig on Friday versus Wisconsin Lutheran College as she recorded 10 kills, 16 assists and 9 digs in the 3-0 loss. For the week, she totaled 27 kills on 65 attempts, 33 assists, 25 digs, 3 blocks and two aces. To date, Niemczewska leads the Stars with 125 kills and is second on the team with 184 assists.

Rodriguez, 5’7” freshman midfielder, tallied two goals and four assists in a pair of victories for the ninth-ranked Stars last week. In a 9-0 win over neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago, Rodriguez logged a goal and two assists as the Stars improved to a perfect 6-0-0 in NAC play. The rookie then duplicated his performance on Saturday versus Lake Forest College with another one goal-two assist performance in a 4-0 win over the Foresters.
