Dvorak Amongst Nation’s ERA Leaders
Dominican University’s Brett Dvorak (Elmwood Park, IL) currently ranks fifth in the nation in NCAA Division III baseball with a 0.69 earned run average in over 42 innings pitched. Dvorak, a 5’11” right-hander, has allowed just three earned runs en route to a 4-1 record with four complete games and two shutouts.
In just over half a season, Dvorak is just one win and 26 strikeouts shy of the Dominican University single-season records. To date, Dvorak has a strikeouts-to-walk ratio of better than 2.5:1 with 42 strikeouts and just 16 base on balls. With just 21 hits in 148 at-bats, opponents are hitting a mere .142 against the Stars’ ace.
Dvorak’s pitching has revitalized the Stars as they begin to make their push toward the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) tournament. After a 0-7 start to the season on the team’s spring trip to Fort Myers, FL, the Stars have gone 13-3 over their next 16 games, including a 7-1 mark in LMC play, tying them for the top spot in the conference.
