Bret Dvorak named LMC Player of the Week
Dominican University junior Bret Dvorak (Elmwood Park, IL) was named the Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week for games from Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. The games were played in Florida during the university’s spring break.
The 5’11” right-handed pitcher scattered four hits and six walks over six innings en route to a 4-3 victory over Baldwin-Wallace College. Dvorak struck out seven on the day, including back-to-back strikeouts in the second inning with runners at second and third, to keep the Yellow Jackets off the board.
In his two outings in Florida, Dvorak posted a 0.00 earned run average in 13-plus innings. He has racked up a team-best 17 strikeouts while surrendering just eight hits and nine walks. Opposing hitters are hitting just .163 against the righty, as opposed to last season when opponents hit .308.
The Stars’ next game will be played at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at Rockford College.
