Women’s Basketball Wins Back-to-back Games
The Dominican University women’s basketball team won back-to-back games last week for just the second time all season, posting victories over Maranatha Baptist Bible College, 56-44, and Alverno College, 54-42, in Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) play.
On Thursday, the Stars knocked off the Maranatha Baptist Crusaders. Senior Nicole Zuhlke (Streamwood, IL) led four Stars in double-digit scoring with 12 points on 5-for-13 shooting from the field. Zuhlke also logged six assists and six steals in 36 minutes. Wioleta Koziol (Mount Prospect, IL) chipped in 11 points while Christine Demogiorgas (Harwood Heights, IL) and Dana Glover (Tinley Park, IL) added 10 points apiece for the Stars’ winning effort.
In the win over Alverno College, Koziol paced the Stars’ offense with 13 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Forwards Justine Christian (Cameron, IL) and Demogiorgas each logged a double-double with 12 points apiece and 11 and 12 rebounds respectively.
The Stars now have just one regular season game remaining before the LMC Tournament begins on Friday, February 17. The Stars will finish the regular season in seventh place in the conference and will play either Concordia (WI) or Wisconsin Lutheran, depending on which team finishes second place in the conference.
