Performing Arts Series Presents Kathy Mattea

Dominican University’s Performing Arts Series presents Grammy Award- winning country/folk singer Kathy Mattea on Saturday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.

Throughout a career spanning 20 years and 11 albums, Kathy Mattea has consistently stuck to her roots as a country/folk performer and singer while remaining ahead of the curve of Nashville’s sound and conscience. Described as a “well-written song’s best friend,” Mattea has helped give several now-famous songwriters their first hit, including Nanci Griffith, whose “Love at the Five and Dime” Mattea made famous in 1986.

Mattea has won two Grammy Awards, two Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Awards, and numerous Academy of Country Music Awards. Her most recent album, Right Out of Nowhere combines contemporary folk music with a Celtic twist, taking the artist in new directions.

In 2001, Mattea was recognized for her efforts to bring awareness to the AIDS epidemic when she was presented with the prestigious Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award.

Tickets for this concert are $30 and $45. For more information on the concert or to order tickets, call Dominican University’s box office at (708) 488-5000 or visit the Web site at www.dom.edu/pac.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
