DU Presents David Bromberg and Sam Bush

Dominican University’s Performing Arts Center will present a rare duo-performance of legendary singer/songwriter/musician David Bromberg and renowned guitarist Sam Bush on Saturday, February 4 at 8:00 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.

The eclectic David Bromberg returns to the Chicago music scene after nearly 20 years to give his audience a musical education cutting across such genres as bluegrass, folk, country, blues and rock and roll. Beginning with his performance at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, Bromberg has attracted the attention of musicians as wide ranging as Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Jerry Jeff Walker, Tom Paxton and Chubby Checker. Impossible to pigeon-hole, Bromberg has been acclaimed as an American musical treasure.

Bromberg will share the stage with Sam Bush, founder and leader of the New Grass Revival, a band celebrated for its fusion of bluegrass and pop. A giant among mandolin players, he led Emmylou Harris’s Grammy Award-winning Nash Ramblers for five years and has appeared on over 300 albums with artists including Alison Krauss, Doc Watson, Lyle Lovett, Dolly Parton and The Dixie Chicks. His album, Short Trip Home, with Edgar Meyer, received a Grammy nomination for Best Classical Crossover Album in 1999. The New Grass Revival’s album Grass Roots: The Best of New Grass Revival was rated as one of the best bluegrass recordings of 2005 by the Chicago Tribune.

Tickets for this concert are $30/$45. For more information, please contact the Dominican University box office at (708) 488-5000.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
