Women’s Basketball Drops Two in LMC Action
The Dominican University women’s basketball team dropped a pair of Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) games last week to extend its current streak to seven losses.
On Saturday, the Stars fell to Marian College, 72-52, at home. Trailing by just three points at the half, 28-25, the Stars were outscored 44-27 over the game’s final 20 minutes. Wioleta Koziol (Mount Prospect, IL) scored 17 points and added five assists and two steals in the losing effort for the Stars. Justine Christian (Cameron, IL) added 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Stars while Nicole Zuhlke (Streamwood, IL) added 13 points before fouling out for Dominican.
Earlier in the week, the Stars fell to Wisconsin Lutheran College, 58-36, after shooting a dismal 15.6 percent from the field (10-of-64) in the game. Zuhlke scored 13 points for Dominican, but was 4-of-17 from the field and 3-of-12 from three. As a team, the Stars shot 85.7 percent from the free-throw line, including going a perfect 11-of-11 in the second half from the foul line.
The losses dropped the Stars to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in the LMC with just seven regular season games remaining. This week the Stars will host Concordia University (WI) for a 7:00 p.m. game on Wednesday and then travel to Lakeland College on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. game.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
