Book Club To Discuss Dreaming in Cuban
Dominican University’s Book Club will discuss Cristina Garcia’s Cuban family saga Dreaming in Cuban on Thursday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 003 of the Rebecca Crown Library, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
Garcia’s first novel, Dreaming in Cuban tells the story of three generations of del Pino women who are searching for spiritual solace. The women all possess clairvoyant and visionary powers that lend a surrealistic charm to their lives, despite the devastating impact of the Cuban Revolution. Combining narratives, love letters and monologues to portray the del Pinos as they move back and forth through time, Garcia weaves a patchwork of dreams and visions and the rich tropical imagery of her native country of Cuba.
