Women’s Soccer Splits LMC Games

The Dominican University women’s soccer team knocked off Wisconsin Lutheran College 4-2 on the road last Saturday, improving to 2-2-1 in the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC).

Freshman Mayra Camacho scored her team-leading 11th and 12th goals of the season, including the game-winning goal that came in the game’s 38th minute, less than two minutes after the Warriors had tied the game at 2-2.

The Stars also got goals from Jackie Montes and Jenny Pacheco. Montes got the Stars on the board in the tenth minute off a corner kick by Camacho, while Pacheco capped off the Stars scoring in the 86th minute.

Earlier in the week, the Stars fell to 5-2 to Concordia University (WI), picked as the preseason favorite to win the LMC title.

Camacho and Pacheco each netted goals for the Stars, but the Falcons offense proved to be too powerful as the Falcons out-shot the Stars, 18-10.

The Stars now stand at 4-7-1 on the year with four games remaining in the regular season, including three LMC games. The Stars are still in the hunt to finish in the top half of the conference and host a LMC playoff contest.
