Volleyball Wins Two of Three Matches on the Week

The Dominican University women’s volleyball team went 2-1 last week, including a win against Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) opponent Alverno College.

The Stars swept Alverno 30-25, 30-15, 30-19 last Tuesday. Kate Zintak paced the Stars with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Emily Kluczynski dished out 23 assists.

The Stars followed the victory over Alverno with their fourth victory of the season with a win over North Park University on Saturday 30-25, 30-21, 29-31, 33-31. Mary Hansen, Haley Ostrander and Zintak all reached double-digit kill totals for the Stars. Ostrander led the way with 18 kills, followed by Zintak with 16, while Hansen racked up 12 kills on a .300 hitting percentage. Defensively, Shannan Burke led the way with 27 digs.

The Stars could not manage to wrap-up the perfect week as they fell to Augustana College 30-28, 30-19, 30-25. Zintak again racked up double-digit kills with 17, but her efforts were not enough as the Stars fell short.

The Stars now stand at 4-16 on the year with a 3-10 record in the LMC. They return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Elmhurst College Tournament.
