Men’s Soccer Remains Perfect in LMC

The Dominican University men’s soccer team picked up a pair of Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) victories last week to remain undefeated in conference play and improve its overall record to 11-1-0 (5-0-0 LMC).

On Saturday, the Stars traveled to Wisconsin Lutheran College and knocked off the Warriors 3-0. Senior David Niederholtmeyer added to his team lead in points with a pair of goals, including a penalty kick in the game’s 20th minute. Freshman Matt Kochanowski capped the Stars’ scoring with his team-leading 17th goal of the season in the 82nd minute.

Defensively, the Stars’ David Rodrigues and Piotr Sliwa combined for the shutout, turning away each of the three shots the Warriors were allowed. The combined shutout was the pair’s fourth for this season.

Earlier in the week, the Stars knocked off Concordia University (WI) on the road. The Stars fell behind 1-0 in the first half, but finally broke through with three goals in the final 30 minutes to take a 3-1 victory.

Freshman Plamen Pamukov evened the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute before Kochanowski banged home a pair of goals to lift the Stars to the win.

Sliwa picked up the win for the Stars in net. The victory was his team-best fifth win.

The Stars return to action on Wednesday, as they host Marian College for a 4:00 p.m. game before concluding the LMC regular season on Saturday at Lakeland College at 3:30 p.m.
