DU’s Camacho Ties School Record
Dominican University’s Mayra Camacho (Summit, IL) recorded five goals in a 6-2 win over Marian College on Tuesday, October 11, tying a Dominican University women’s soccer single game record.Camacho, a freshman, racked up three goals in the first half to lift the Stars to a 3-2 lead at the break and then added an insurance goal just seven minutes into the second half to give the Stars breathing room. Fellow freshman Jenny Pacheco (Summit, IL), who assisted on three of Camacho’s goals, added a goal of her own in the 75th minute followed by Camacho’s fifth goal of the game just 21 seconds later.
Renee Vai (Eagan, MN), currently an assistant coach for the Stars, was the first women’s soccer player at Dominican University to score five goals in a game and she did it three times throughout her career.
