Matt Kochanowski Shoots into National Rankings

Dominican University’s freshman forward Matt Kochanowski, a graduate of Fremd High School in Palatine, is the third leading scorer in the nation for NCAA Division III men’s soccer as of games played through October 16. Fifteen games into his freshman campaign, Kochanowski has racked up 20 goals and 7 assists for a total of 47 points for the 12th ranked Dominican University Stars.

Kochanowski’s 3.14 points per game average currently ranks him third in the nation among NCAA Division III men’s soccer players while his 1.36 goals per game average ranks him second in the nation.

In his first collegiate game on September 1, Kochanowski exploded on the scene with five goals against Concordia University (IL). That mark ties Kochanowski for second in the nation for most goals scored in a single game, while his ten points in that game ties him for third in the nation for points in a single game.

The Stars currently have two regular season games remaining before the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament begins and the Stars attempt to capture their fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
