Stars Post Back-to-Back Victories
The Dominican University women’s soccer program completed a flawless week on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). The two teams battled through an offensive stalemate until the 81 st minute when freshman Mayra Camacho scored on a direct kick shot into the Raiders’ goal. The goal was Camacho’s team-leading eighth goal and her third game-winning goal.
Goalkeeper Gwen Geever recorded her second consecutive shutout making six saves en route to the victory.
Earlier in the week, the Stars knocked off Benedictine University 2-0 at Benedictine. Camacho again netted the game-winner for the Stars, but this time the goal came on a breakaway in the game’s 13 th minute. Fellow forward Jenny Pacheco added an insurance goal for the Stars, her second goal of the season.
The Stars now stand at 3-5-0 overall and are 1-0-0 in Lake Michigan Conference play. They return to the field on Saturday, October 1, as they host Edgewood College at 3:30 p.m.
