Dr. Regina Wolfe Appointed
Dr. Wolfe comes to Dominican from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN where she has been a professor since 1994. Dr. Wolfe also serves as the executive director of the Society of Christian Ethics, is a member of the European Business Ethics Network and a board member of the United States Catholic China Bureau. In addition, she was a member of the Save the Children USA’s Vietnam Delegation in 2002. She was included in the national 2004-2005 Who’s Who in America.
At St. John’s University and at Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Wolfe taught courses in the theology of social action, ethics and world religions, fundamental moral theology, and business and theology. Her presentations, research and scholarly interests include examinations of Catholic social thought and management education, and the study of business as a professional calling.
Dr. Wolfe received her bachelor’s degree in business administration at Georgetown University, her master’s degree at Loyola University Chicago and her doctorate at King’s College at the University of London.
Charged with integrating business ethics into each part of Dominican University’s business curriculum, Dr. Wolfe will also liaison with other schools and the business community on professional ethics.
“Values are becoming more important in our rapidly changing global business environment,” said Wolfe. “Increasingly, business professionals are seeking ways to integrate their personal values and beliefs with their work life to avoid a Sunday- Monday divide that suggests that they leave them at home when they head out to work on Monday mornings. I am looking forward to the opportunity to integrate socially responsible leadership into the business curriculum at Dominican because our students are going to set the standards for the business practices of tomorrow.”
In acknowledging the endowment created by Jay and Doris Christopher, Dominican University School of Business Dean Molly Burke said, “I am so pleased that the Christophers have affirmed the importance of business ethics by funding this Chair. Their gift will allow the School of Business to excel in a field that we have always seen as central to our curriculum and to the mission of the university.”
In 1980, Doris Christopher founded The Pampered Chef in the basement of her River Forest, IL home. In 2002, the company became a part of the Berkshire Hathaway family of businesses. The Pampered Chef is the premiere direct seller of high-quality kitchen tools. At in-home cooking demonstrations, called Kitchen Shows, guests see products and recipes in action, learn quick and easy food preparation techniques and receive tips on how to entertain with ease. Every year, more than one million Kitchen Shows are held, serving more than 12 million customers worldwide.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
