Dominican Stars riding a six-match winning streak
The Dominican University women’s tennis team is riding a six-match win streak, knocking off Rockford College and North Central College last week.
On Tuesday, the Stars rolled through Rockford with a 9-0 clean sweep of the Regents. Sophomore Laura Grabowski captured her seventh straight victory at the number one singles position for the Stars 6-2, 6-1.
The Stars then knocked off North Central on Saturday in a tight contest, 5-4. Senior Sarah Schoo remained unbeaten in singles competition, knocking off her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Grabowski, Bozana Durman and Molly Nolan also captured singles victories while Schoo and freshman Eileen Shanahan teamed together for the Stars’ lone doubles win of the match.
The pair of victories pushes the Stars record to 7-1 with just four matches remaining before the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) Championships on Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2.
