Three Stars Earn All-conference Honors in Tennis

The Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) released the 2004 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Team last week and three Dominican University Stars led the way.

Seniors Lubos Bagos (River Grove, IL) and Kestitus Gasiunas (Forest Park, IL) along with freshman Manuel Chavez (Chicago, IL/Brother Rice) were all named to the all-conference team for the Stars after winning their respective conference championships at the first singles, second singles and sixth singles positions. Bagos and Gasiunas joined forces to win the number one doubles championship as well.

The Stars finished the year with a 4-1 record in the NIIC, dropping the April 13 conference opener 5-4 to Concordia University and then posting convincing victories over Clarke College, Aurora University, Eureka College and Rockford College.

For their efforts, Bagos and Head Coach Rob Neuman were named the NIIC Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.
