Dominican University Stars Fall to Red Devils

The Dominican University Stars fell to the Eureka College Red Devils at home on Wednesday night 76-64, despite shooting 57 percent from the field in the second half.

Ocie Peet (Racine, WI/Horlick) poured in 19 points for the Stars and grabbed six rebounds in 30 minutes of action. Eric Dunn (Chicago, IL/Curie) and Steve Preston (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) rounded out the Stars’ offensive attack turning in 17 and 12 point performances respectively. Dunn, the Stars’ scoring leader at 13.2 points per game, had his action limited late in the game with a sprained foot.

The Stars created 17 turnovers on defense and took 15 more shots than the Red Devils, but could not cool the Red Devils’ shooting as they shoot 55 percent from the field and 43 percent from three in the game.

The loss dropped the Stars to 4-16 overall and 2-5 in Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) play. The Stars return to action on Wednesday night, when they travel to NIIC-opponent Clarke College in Iowa for a 7:30 p.m. game.
