Stars Test Conference’s Top Team

The Dominican University Stars traveled to Aurora University Wednesday to battle with the first place team in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC). The Stars took the Spartans to the limit but came up on the losing end of a 72-65 battle.

The Stars trailed the Spartans the entire game, but Dominican never let Aurora pull away, keeping the lead under 10 points the whole way, and trailing by just one with seven minutes to play.

Seniors Eric Dunn (Chicago, IL/Curie) and Steve Preston (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) paced the Stars’ offense with 14 points apiece. Ocie Peet (Racine, WI/Horlick) chipped in 13 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while freshmen Derek Pedersen (St. Charles, IL/North) and Binyamin Jones (Chicago, IL/Washington) added 11 points apiece.

The loss dropped the Stars to 4-19 overall and 2-8 in the NIIC with just two games remaining in the regular season.
